Resilience Development in Multiple Shocks: Lessons in Mental Health and Well-Being Deterioration during COVID-19

Resilience describes individuals’ and organizations’ recovery from crises adaptation to disturbances adversities. Emerging research shows the deterioration of population’s mental health well-being during multiple waves COVID-19 pandemic, suggesting that resilience developed is insufficient address system’s persistent shocks. Drawing on findings pandemic psychological organizational theories, we a system dynamics theory model exploring how presence shocks challenges well-being. We initiated with three same intensities durations, then experimented scenarios in which strength (duration intensity) was attenuated amplified. The showed temporary environmental adjustments limited long-term stabilized solutions lack service provision can increase accumulative risks deterioration. highlight role essential sectors’ tolerance adversities providing sustainable resilience. conclude by discussing critical factors development system.
